Hi Sharon,

It is so sad to hear of a dog, especially a puppy, in such distress.

The only thoughts that come to mind when you mention fits, are epilepsy and hypoglycemia
(This is by no means meant to be medical advice).

Have you considered approaching another veterinarian for a second opinion?

Hopefully some of our readers might be able to offer some insight.

We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to you and your family and hope your puppy survives this terrible ordeal.

Gary

My Shorthair Retriever mix has the same problems mostly in the elbow area. My wife and I will usually use vaseline intensive care to keep them moisturized and if any cracking does occur neosporin cream works well to keep the cracks from getting bad.

You should perhaps spend some time with a domestic mother-dog. They most certainly do discipline puppies in just this way, sometimes giving the appearance of frighteningly violent correction. The puppy squeals, but only its' pride is injured.

So many different ways to reach the same goal. The right method for different dogs and owners can only be found by experimenting.

Informative and interesting post!. Dog training and bonding with your dog is really important. Lots of dog training guides are out there, there is probably an effective method for every type of dog and owner.

Hi Barbera - Here are some more points to consider.

If you are interested in breeding your "Staffie" the best sire to look for is one with a good temperment. Do not breed only for beauty and ignore other flaws the other dog may have. A female dog should be 2 years of age or older before she is bred. Breeding a younger animal would be like a 13 year old child having a baby. NEVER breed an animal with one of its siblings.

Like any pregnant female, your dog should be seen regularly by a veterinarian during the gestation period.

To insure you are breeding "papered" puppies, only select another animal with papered lineage.
